The Evolution of Japan’s Peacekeeping Policy 1992–2012

Abstract In this chapter, we will provide an overview of the evolution Japan’s peacekeeping policy from enactment Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) Act in 1992 to era before return Prime Minister Shinzo Abe 2012 (we also briefly mention more recent issues where relevant). The chapter consists three sections. First, outline experiences with personnel contribution United Nations (UNPKOs) and other related activities.
